What is nbn® Fibre-to-the-Premises FTTP?
Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) uses fibre cabling between a premises and the nearest available fibre node, making it the preferred option for single-detached dwellings that have direct access to the nbn™ network’s fibre cabling. For multi-dwelling units like apartment blocks, where fibre cabling is often not up to the required standards or where copper cabling is used internally, the Fibre-to-the-Building (FTTB) connection type is usually employed instead. However, some newer apartment buildings with internal fibre network cabling that meets nbn™ network specifications may be eligible for an FTTP connection.

An FTTP connection requires the installation of an external nbn™ utility box and an internal nbn™ connection box on the walls of the premises, which will be performed by an nbn™ approved installer. Standard installation for premises migrating from an existing network to the nbn™ network is free of charge, however additional fees , build costs and eligable speed tiers apply when upgrading to FTTP via the nbn® Technology Choice Program depending on your location and for for complex projects or new building developments.
